Hammerfest to the North Cape Tales
Experience the Edge of the Arctic from Hammerfest to Honningsvåg and the North Cape
Service Description
This North Cape Tour is created for travellers who appreciate silence, space, and the quiet presence of the far north. Along remote coastlines and wide Arctic landscapes, we travel slowly and consciously — discovering places few visitors ever reach. 1. Hammerfest – The Beginning of the Journey Your experience begins in Hammerfest, the world’s northernmost city of its size. Here, Arctic history and modern life meet in a landscape shaped by wind, sea, and resilience. We visit Salenfjellet, a viewpoint that feels like the rooftop of Hammerfest. From here, you enjoy sweeping views of the Arctic Ocean, the city centre, and the surrounding islands, a perfect introduction to the vastness of Finnmark. 2. Sea Sámi Museum – Stories of the Coastal Indigenous People Our journey continues to Sjøsamisk Tun in Smørfjord, where we explore the traditions of the Sea Sámi, the indigenous coastal people of Finnmark. This is an hours drive from Hammerfest. Their deep connection to the sea, the land, and the rhythms of the Arctic has shaped life here for centuries. Entrance and guiding are included, along with a small local snack that reflects the flavours of the region. 3. North Cape – The Edge of Europe We then travel to the very edge of the European continent: the North Cape Plateau. Here, steep cliffs rise above the Barents Sea, and the horizon stretches endlessly into the Arctic. You will have time to experience the iconic North Cape Globe Monument, feel the raw beauty of the landscape, and enjoy a Scandinavian pastry with a warm drink. Entrance to Nordkapphallen is not included, but you will have enough time to explore it on your own if you wish. Tour information: Difficulty Level: 1, minimum walking to be expected Minimum participants: 2 Included: - transport to the North Cape - entrance fee to the Sea Sami museum - snack at Sea Sami museum - 4 professional high-resolution photographs (digital) - hot beverages: tea or coffee - Scandinavian pastry Not included: - entrance to the Nordkapphallen, but there will be enough time to explore on your own, if you wish to enter - guarantee to have a view on the Barents Sea on the North Cape plateau The tour can also be taking in reverse, starting in Honningsvåg.
